Dr. Day is board certified in both veterinary anesthesiology and veterinary emergency and critical care. He enjoys the challenges of managing critical patients and interactions with pet owners. Specific areas of interest in emergency and critical care include management of sepsis, acute kidney injury, and fluid therapy in critically ill dogs and cats. Total intravenous anesthesia for critical patients that require surgery is his primary area of interest in anesthesiology, as well as acute pain management for surgical and nonsurgical patients. Finally, he enjoys abdominal and thoracic ultrasound for emergency and critical patients.

Dr. Day is passionate about spending quality time with his wife and two daughters. His nonhuman family consists of a variety of animals including dogs, cats and an aquatic turtle. In his spare time, he trains and competes in all levels of the triathlon, including the Ironman events.
